I’ve been involved in endurance sports since 2008 and coaching since 2011, after graduating University. I often get asked what advice I can give to anyone looking to take their training up a notch. A few words of wisdom below;
Be consistent with the training, don’t underestimate the importance of the basics: sleep, body management and nutrition. A great quote that I continually emphasise to athletes – “Recovery is an integral part of overall training and practice, so that it must be applied with the short and long term goals constantly in mind.” (Siff, 2000)
Understanding that development is a jig-saw puzzle, you must continually strive to put all the pieces together. Performance isn’t an overnight phenomenon!
